What to expect during the Stryker recruitment process

Aktualisiert: 10. Okt.

Delivering a great candidate experience starts with transparency about what you can expect during the recruitment process at Stryker. Here is an outline of the standard recruitment process and what you can expect when you apply for a position at Stryker.

*Note: the recruitment process and time estimates will vary by location

1. The application process (Approximately 3 - 25 minutes)

Once you have identified the position(s) on our career site you’d like to apply for, you’ll need to submit an application. If you would like a current Stryker employee to refer you, they need to submit the referral before you apply online.

Submitting an application

Whether you’re applying with a referral link, or directly through our career site, you will need to click on the “Apply Now” button. Depending on whether you upload an existing resume or are completing the fields as you go, the process can take between 3-25 minutes.

Application reminders:

  • Applications should only be submitted online and will not be accepted via any other channels such as email, social media, etc.

  • If you would like to apply for more than one role, you will need to submit a separate application for each role.

  • Once you’ve submitted an application, your information is stored and can be used for later applications.

  • You will receive a confirmation email when the application process has been successfully submitted.

Application review

A recruiter will review your application and contact you via email if your skills are a match for the role you applied for. Depending on the number of applications we receive for a role, you can expect to hear back from us about the status of your application within two weeks. If you would like to check the status of your application, please visit our application portal.

On occasion, our response emails can be caught in spam filters. Please be sure to check your spam folder periodically to be sure you have not missed an email.

2. Recruiter phone interview (Approximately 1 - 3 weeks after application is submitted)

Once the recruiter has reviewed your application, and if they believe you are a fit for the role, they will contact you via email or phone to set up a time for a phone interview. This initial phone screen is an opportunity to hear more about your background and skills. It is also your chance to learn about the role and decide whether you see this as the right career move. It’s just as important to us that you feel like this is a great fit! This call generally lasts 30-60 minutes.

There is usually time at the end of the interview for a few questions, so be sure to think through which are most important.

3. Hiring manager phone interview (Approximately 3 days - 1 week after the phone interview)

Following the initial phone interview, if the recruiter believes the role is a fit based on your background and experience, they will present your information to the hiring manager for review. If the hiring manager is interested in moving forward, a Hiring Manager screen will be scheduled.

The hiring manager screen is to tell you about the position and department as well as focus on your technical skills related to the job. It’s a great opportunity for you to get to know your potential manager and ask questions about them, their team and the opportunity. This call generally takes between 30-60 minutes and may be conducted over the phone or video call.

4. The Gallup interview (Approximately 1 day - 1 week after the hiring manager phone interview)

Your next step will be a professional assessment either through a web-based platform or via phone. They have developed several questions that focus on understanding your unique talents and strengths. The interview is conducted over the phone/web-based platform with a trained analyst who will ask strengths-themed questions. This interview can last between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours.

A few tips:

  1. Find a quiet place where you can relax without distractions.

  2. If you are using your mobile phone, be sure your phone is fully charged and that you are in a location providing a good connection. Dropped calls will be frustrating and distracting.

  3. Last and most important, be yourself. This is another opportunity for us to get to know you!

Within a few days, your strengths feedback will be shared with the hiring manager and your recruiter who will then contact you to discuss the next steps.

5. Final stage interviews (Approximately 1 - 2 weeks after the Gallup interview)

After the assessment, your recruiter and the hiring manager will decide on the next steps. This is a good time for you to evaluate if this role is the right fit for you. This way, if the recruiter reaches out, you are ready to move forward in the process.

If both sides are aligned on moving forward the next steps would be, your recruiter will schedule a series of interviews with the appropriate team members. This may require traveling to one of our office locations and meeting with multiple people. If travel is required, your recruiter will introduce you to a member of our Candidate Care team who will assist you with scheduling travel, answering any questions you may have, planning your interview agenda and handling any expenses. However, we also have virtual interviewing as well if the hiring manager does not require onsite interviews.

6. Selection (Approximately 3 days - 1 week after the final stage interviews)

Following your interviews, our team will connect to make a final decision. During this time, your recruiter will remain in contact and let you know once a decision is made. Following the team’s decision, you will receive a phone call from the recruiter to discuss the feedback and outcome.

We strive to have decisions made within a week of interviews but there are times it may take longer depending on the number of candidates interviewed and the availability of the hiring team. If you have any questions during this time, please contact your recruiter.

7. Offer (Approximately 3 days - 1 week after selection)

Once the decision is final, your recruiter or hiring manager will contact you to provide you with a verbal offer. From there, they will send you a formal offer letter which we ask that you review and sign by the specified date.

After we've received your signed offer letter, you will receive email instructions detailing any local preboarding requirements such as background checks. It’s important to know the background check process can take up to three weeks. During this time, you will likely hear from your new manager to start discussing your first week.

Once your background check is complete, you will receive a confirmation email and instructions for your first day.

8. Onboarding, congratulations!

If you have received and accepted an offer from Stryker, you will work with your recruiter and/or HR business partner to determine a start date and next steps for orientation and onboarding!

Welcome to Stryker!
