Getting to know Clinical Careers at Stryker

Regulatory Affairs

Our Regulatory Affairs (RA) team plays a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the product lifecycle. They meticulously evaluate the regulatory landscape, anticipating obstacles and proposing effective solutions. This involves assessing regulatory intelligence to develop comprehensive strategies on local, regional and global scales. Additionally, they actively engage in advocacy efforts and provide internal guidance across various stages, from product conception to marketing ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.

The RA team encompasses strategic planning, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement and meticulous documentation, all aimed at navigating the complex regulatory landscape to bring Stryker’s innovative products to market.

Quality Assurance

Our Quality Assurance (QA) team is passionate about making sure that all our products are compliant from a regulatory perspective but also from a quality perspective with regard to different international requirements. They make sure that our products work as intended. They promote safety for our patients and our customers. A typical day in the life on our QA team might include team meetings to discuss open tasks, review of disclosure documentation to help our customers use our products in a safe, on-label way and also in an efficient way. This may include information about proper use or operative techniques. This team fields questions from customers with questions on process and proper use.

Clinical Affairs

Our Clinical Affairs team sustains an ecosystem where clinical evidence and expertise powers the business and drives better healthcare. This team develops and implements strategies to help the safety, effectiveness and regulatory compliance of our medical devices, supporting their clinical and commercial success. Professionals in clinical strategy and operations conduct compliant clinical research, while clinical data scientists analyze data to validate device performance and safety. Medical Affairs roles ensure regulatory compliance, communicate scientific findings, and engage with healthcare professionals. Our Medical Safety team utilizes medical expertise and thought leadership to assess and mitigate risks to patients and users, optimize products, and prevent future harm. With a blend of scientific and medical expertise, regulatory knowledge, research, and clinical evaluation skills, we prioritize patient safety and deliver value to the business.

Onsite Specialists

Once Stryker products have made their way through RAQA and Clinical Affairs process and are now in the hands of the healthcare providers, our Onsite Specialists step in.

Our Onsite Specialists provide onsite clinical surgical support for surgeons and operating room staff. They proactively anticipate the needs of the operating room staff and surgeons and are responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining Stryker equipment. They are adept at fostering relationships throughout their accounts to drive credibility and trust. They do everything from setting up rooms for procedures and sterilizing equipment to serving as the face of Stryker in operating rooms. At the root of these roles is the ability to work well under pressure, provide expertise in the moment, and build relationships throughout their portfolio.

Mako Product Specialists

Mako surgical robotics are revolutionizing the way hip and knee replacement surgeries are done by enabling patients to have a more predictable surgical experience. Mako Product Specialists (MPS) are subject matter experts on the Mako surgical robotic system. They serve as the go-to person in complex knee or hip operations by providing technical and clinical specialist expertise to our customers. A day could include working with a surgeon to plan a complex knee or hip replacement, they could be working intraoperatively during surgery or they could be educating and advising hospital staff and surgeons on Stryker’s products and protocols. These individuals meet with our customers face-to-face every day. They build relationships with surgeons, nurses, surgical techs and the perioperative team and are all contributing to the same goal of a safe and successful patient outcome. This is a purely clinical role and does not require any sales or previous robotics experience – we provide training to help you be successful in this role.
