Getting to know Stryker: Sales roles

Updated: Oct 11

Stryker offers leading-edge medical devices and technologies that support our mission to make healthcare better. To get those products and services into the hands and healthcare settings that need them most, we have a global salesforce that is responsible for driving our continued and sustained growth.

Explore our Sales roles:

Let’s start with the different roles and their unique responsibilities. In all of our sales roles, you’ll be interacting with, educating and/or building relationships with customers including nurses, surgeons, clinicians and more. But each role varies a bit in their responsibilities and experience required.

Associate Sales Representative

Associate Sales Representatives (ASRs) spend their time predominantly out in the field. These are great opportunities for individuals looking to start their career in medical device sales and learn the business in partnership with a Sales Representative.

ASRs at Stryker are primarily responsible for:
  • Partnering with Sales Representatives to strategically promote and sell Stryker products and services

  • Attending surgeries where Stryker products are being used to educate and inform surgeons and staff on proper use

  • Marketing and promoting Stryker products and services within an assigned territory

  • Managing inventory and assembly of equipment

Successful ASRs can multitask – no week is exactly the same. They have a strong drive to achieve and succeed, can learn medical and technical information quickly and are adept at building and maintaining relationships.  Want to know more? Sales Representatives

Our Sales Representatives are in the heart of the action every day. They’re motivated, self-starters who are driven by our mission to make healthcare better. These are great roles for experienced outside sales representatives (in most cases requiring some previous medical related field experience).  Sales Representatives at Stryker are innately able to prioritize and manage in stressful situations under minimal supervision and are stellar communicators.

These roles are primarily responsible for:
  • Promoting and selling Stryker products in an assigned territory

  • Conducting product evaluations in operating room or office settings

  • Demonstrating the value of our products to current and prospective customers

  • Thinking quickly in surgical settings to solve product problems and help inform doctors, nurses and other staff of the proper use of our products

  • Providing exemplary customer service, building strong and lasting relationships

Territory Sales Managers

Our Territory Sales Managers play a significant role in helping our customers improve patient care and outcomes through our products and services. They are responsible for maintaining existing business in key accounts and identifying and developing new sales opportunities in their defined territory. These roles are primarily responsible for:

  • Developing an effective territory sales strategy to drive growth

  • Delivering annual sales targets as well as other key performance objectives

  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders

  • Conducting product demonstrations as well as providing product support for manual and robotic surgical cases

Regional Sales Manager

Our Regional Sales Managers are responsible for leading and motivating our high performing sales teams, supporting and driving them strategically and tactically to accelerate business. They have background experience in medical, scientific or technical careers. These roles require a fair amount of travel, as they are required to visit customers in their assigned region regularly.

These roles are primarily responsible for:
  • Managing, leading and motivating a high performing sales team

  • Delivering against quarterly and annual business budgets while managing revenue pipeline development and leverage market dynamics to support business acceleration
